May 8th, 2025 57

On April 25th, the project argumentation meeting for the "AI + Major" construction project of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics was held in the Aerospace Building. The meeting invited Liang Guozhu, the secretary-general of the Teaching Steering Committee of Aeronautics and Astronautics of the Ministry of Education, and the committee's vice chairpersons Yang Zhichun, Liu Li and Zheng Yao, as well as Wang Hongdong, the deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, to offer guidance. Hu Shiqiang, the Party secretary of the school, Zhou Xiang, the vice dean, and the members of the Teaching Committee attended the meeting.

Hu Shiqiang said that in order to seize the strategic opportunity of the deep integration of aerospace and artificial intelligence, the college has set the goal of "cultivating compound top-notch innovative talents with both artificial intelligence literacy and aerospace professional capabilities", and is committed to enhancing students' innovative thinking and practical abilities, and continuously deepening the exploration of aerospace engineering professional construction based on AI. The college will fully absorb the achievements of expert argumentation and guidance, and fully promote the innovative development of interdisciplinary integration.

Zhou Xiang reported on the college's "AI + Major" construction plan and elaborated on the achievements of the preliminary research work. The college aims to build a new model of aerospace engineering education driven by "AI + HI" dual brains, and focuses on promoting four major construction tasks: updating the curriculum system, developing digital textbooks, researching and developing professional vertical large models, and building a virtual simulation platform, striving to promote the innovative development of the major.

The experts attending the meeting highly affirmed the college's practices in promoting the deep integration of artificial intelligence and higher education and exploring new teaching and learning models. Regarding the college's "AI + Major" construction plan, the experts put forward constructive suggestions on core contents such as the design of the curriculum system, the planning of professional directions, the development of vertical large models, and the construction of virtual simulation platforms. They also shared practical paths and effective approaches for integrating AI into teaching based on their own institutional experiences.

Wang Hongdong expounded on the school's concept and approach of "AI + HI" empowering education and teaching. He pointed out that in developing AI-integrated courses, it is necessary to focus on the meticulous design of content and rationally assemble cross-disciplinary teaching teams; conduct teaching based on practical problems and projects to enable students to apply knowledge in practice. Moreover, it is essential to fully leverage the advantages of AI, break through disciplinary boundaries, and cultivate compound talents with cross-disciplinary capabilities.

This expert consultation meeting provided important references for the "AI + major" construction of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Subsequently, the school will fully absorb the opinions of the experts, continuously promote the deep integration of AI and aerospace majors, and contribute to the innovative development and talent cultivation in the aerospace field.
